‘Ringfencing’ is a discursive history of the circular form & the different ways it’s been utilised across culture. Merging elements of radio theatre, soundscape design and an anthropological essay, the installation pulls audiences through a chain of short aphorisms.

Inspired by 18th Century diorama’s, each aphorism is a 3D spatial soundscape, designed to place them inside a different scenario. These scenarios illuminate unique instances relating to the circle form, using sound they carve the 3D space around the audience to situate them in different ways:

- At the centre of a roulette wheel, a medieval round table or a motorway interchange.

- On the surface of a spinning coin, a particle in the Hadron Collider or the Sun.

- Inside a drill bit, a 16th Century zooetrope or a human artery.
