‘LA,1620: Catalogue’ is a print publication detailing the visual archive which twins a mixtape of the same name. The catalogue’s unique structure is a hybrid of an atlas and an encyclopaedia, borrowing from the organisational logic of each.

Through its own medium, the book embodies the composite like process of mixing down  audio files. Mirroring the way a stack of audio files are frozen into one singular track, the book’s spreads are made up of different visual surface layers, all flattened into one. Just as pilot voice notes are buried in the frequencies of the mixtape, detritus from the design process which would normally be edited out is occasionally left in the final spreads - echoing out previous design iterations or takes.
