OOW is an experimental research project, investigating the complex and immeasurable nature of cultural phenomenon’s.

The project attempts to unravel the factors which contributed to a specific feeling of acceleration widely experienced in developed western culture around the year 2018.
Partly this involved acknowledging the difficulty of defining these slippery phenomenons, which are only evidenced in pub conversations, online forums and lifestyle columns.

The project gave rise to a collection of outcomes drawing attention to the various factors which might have contributed to this social phenomenon. From our shifting relationship with the natural world to hypervisual online culture to historic trends in human tools and technology.

‘OOW’ was a publication collating the outcomes of the project. A database of objects, photographs, exercises, films, writing, drawings and games which chart the aligning factors that produced this off kilter cultural context.
